TrulyApart of my heart

In the early 60’s, he along with his first cousins, Alfredo and Nick Varalli opened and operated the first Italian Pizzeria in Niagara Falls, Canada on the corner of Ferry Street and Stanley Avenue. In 1968, they sold the Pizzeria and bought Roman Cheese Products which is still operating today. This is where he met the love of his life, Francesca Pellicano while she was shopping with her mother and next door neighbour, who just happened to be Amedeo’s “Paesan” – childhood friend while growing up. After being introduced, it was love at first sight and the two married four months later on January 31, 1970. They had three children, Joanne, Lina (Pat) and Domenico Dino (Renee). In 1989, he decided to pursue another new venture and went into the hotel business with his partners. They opened up the brand new Sheraton Fallview Hotel and Conference Centre and later the Thundering Waters Golf Course in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Although Amedeo worked extremely hard all his life, he always made time for his wife and children. He was so proud of all of them! Amedeo loved traveling, especially with his family and cherished the time he spent with them in Florida, Disney World, Paris and Italy. He also loved vacationing in Las Vegas with his wife. Playing cards and golfing were his favourite pastimes, and he found immense joy sharing his ” in the old days” stories with his family and friends. Today, his family loves to tell his grandchildren Claudia, Giuliana, Milana, Ivana, Amelia and Amedeo what a loving, giving, hardworking and honest man he was. Amedeo touched so many lives and will never be forgotten.

We do not need a special day to bring you to our minds. The days we do not think of you are very hard to find.  Each morning when we wake, we know that you are gone and no one knows the heartache as we try to carry on. Our hearts still ache with sadness and secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you Papa no one will ever know. Our thoughts are always with you, your place no one can fill. In life we loved you dearly; In death we love you still. There will always be a heartache and often a silent tear, but always a precious memory of the days when you were here. If tears could build a staircase, and heartaches make a lane, we’d walk the path to heaven and bring you home again. We would hold you very tight and never let you part. There you will remain locked safe within our hearts. Our family chain is broken now and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. Papa we love you and miss you very much.
